RAYA IN SABAH, EAST MALAYSIA
Raya celebration is one of the biggest celebration of the year for moslem. After one month fasting, tarawih pray, sahoor, and resiting alquran. We end it up with paying zakat to clear our body and soul. In the moment of 1st Syawal all moslem will do Eid shalat in mosque then gather with our family to have food fiesta.
The tradition of asking forgiveness and apologizing each other are the main activities when we meet family and colleague. Memorable story while having big portion of serving in the living room. The giggles, laugh, and love surround the environment. Enjoying chit-chat and capturing the faces will always remind us the importance of having good circle.
The festive season usually last till one month, we could reach the long-distance acquaintance and family in other day, not only the day of Raya. Listen Raya song theme in radio accompany driving in happy vibe. The spirit of reconnect with society and colleague make us relate how important relationships in human life. Raya is one of the occasion that could bring social activities still exist in modern lifestyle.
Unfortunately, all of the hilarious expectation of the moment celebration can’t be found here in Sabah this year. I get my period in the end of Ramadhan till 1st day of Raya. But then, I still try to figured it out with self-cooked rendang and ketupat. It’s tasty even with single companionship. The ambivalent of Raya strongly felt by visiting Likas Mosque. It has the most exquisite scenery over the reflection pondering water in surrounding. I try to made stop for getting self portrait in front of the great view in Sabah.
In the middle of Syawal my clinic will have Raya Celebration. Finally, my boss decided to make open house on behalf of the religious respect. Especially it’s the same believe as him if you know what I mean. I appreciate his concern to staffs and vets who worked for him. Sometimes, having a job is not only about the salary but also personal’s matters. The self belonging of each other’s need will meet our satisfaction and better understandable.
