Watching television, listening to the radio, or social media surfing are some of the modern entertainment nowadays. People used to spend their spare time or fill their meantime by amusement things. It can be recreational and distracting on some point. But it’s ok, it’s like a basic need for life too. The reason is healing nonetheless unpractical activities.

Radio is one of the most popular streaming line in Brunei, Almost 70% of people access it from the car, home, or office. Everyone listens to the radio, and even the local channels are not so variative. I used to listen to National FM for local news, I like the correspondent. They announce it with advanced English and good pronunciation. The vibe is like British life with Islamic culture. Other channels are Pelangi FM and Kristal FM, I love their DJs and the song's theme choices. You can feel the difference in every DJ’s personal taste.

Next, we move to RTB (Radio Television Brunei). It’s the official TV channel broadcasting system provided by Brunei Government. RTB channel divided into 3 parts, there are RTB Aneka, RTB Sukmaindera, RTB Perdana. You can follow the variation of local wisdom culture, entertainment, news, children and sports streaming. The channel can access directly on TV or online in their website on rtbgo.bn. In other choice, people used to watch international TV channels come from Malaysia like Astro and TV3, or Indonesian TV channel like Indosiar, RCTI, or SCTV. The 90’s generations are commonly watched sinetron, FTV (romance drama) and dangdut music for family entertainment music shows.

Another broadcasting line as the mass information publication, yeah it's newspapers. Reading newspapers can be so old school in some countries, but it’s not happening in Brunei. It’s a typical old world with old people and old society. Find newspaper anywhere, like in minimarket or known as kedai runcit and also like book stores. I can mention some local newspaper, they are Broneo Bulletin, Pelita Harapan, and The Bruneian. It has almost the same contain and issue. Not really much interesting for my opinion. Since all of them is watched and screened by Gov, so the authorization to speak and show your critic's minds maybe not get some space here.

Finding social media like internet surf and globalization are two privileges for the young generation. Adapting new era and developing your perspective by finding new interests outside of the country seems legit. Connecting community and get interaction with international line from facebook, instagram, twitter, and reddit quite popular. The thing that only the world wants to see from Brunei is the monarch family, especially the charismatic prince (You know lah).

Live performing show is rarely found. Usually it’s realted to school activities. Like UBD (University of Brunei Darussalam) or JIS (Jerudong International School) theatrical and art exhibitions. But they set ticketing prices a bit high, only the art fan and upper class can afford it. Don’t try to think about live music in a café or a big concert. It’s been gone since the syariah law was stated as the norm and life guidance. Get your own fun, like karaoke in your own house, and get an audition in local radio fest season. So hard to be an artist here, not much space for people to get lounge to enjoy it. Not even a need for people’s minds.
