Covid-19 Pandemic in Brunei Darussalam

8th August 2021, there’re new cases of COVID-19 pandemic after a year no local infection. This time it’s become more serious since there’s no evidence where it started and how it spread. It just happened, and many people had contacted with the positive person unconsciously. On the 9th August Bruneian Government decided to announce about lockdown till further notice. The new cases are still increase and the close contact getting higher every day. It updated by system automatically in Bru-Health Apps.

The information about new cases, demography, and current situation info may reach by all the citizen from the Bru-Health apps. People more aware the critical situation since it is community spread and no one can stop unless they do it. There’s warn to stay at home, online schooling, work from home, and not going for unnecessary matter. Government concern about the civil servant and private section to encourage working by shift or work home.

The information of confirmed cases announced every afternoon by Government under Prime Minister, Minister of Health, and Minister of Economy. It can be accessed on official Instagram account of Ministry of Health, RTB web, or other local press. The audience can ask anything due to current situation on open discussion in the end of conference press. Most of it about health program and economy issue.

Vaccination program held in Brunei Darussalam since 1st April 2021, with the first dose done by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang D-Pertuan of Darussalam. For the first batch of vaccination focusing on health worker, especially frontliner. The first batch also included old generation and the one who has genetic disease. They are having high risk to COVID-19 infection. On the next batch government open vaccination by appointment through Bru-Health. People can book available slot and choose the time they available for get a shot. There’re premises that people must be known before do vaccination, like in healthy condition, registered as resident, and confirmed get the appointment. You also will be asked about your ID card or passport.

So basically, The Government divided vaccination center into 4 points, there are Bandar-Muara located in indoor stadium, Suri Sri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait, Tutong Hospital, and Pengiran Isteri hajjah Mariam Hospital in Temburong. The available vaccines are Astra Zaneca and Moderna. People may not to choose which vaccine they will get. And the authority of vaccination of pregnant and breast-feeding women are recommended using Moderna type. It’s been claimed as safe prevention and protection of COVID-19 infection.

After you did vaccination, you will get paracetamol for antipyretic, medical record of vaccination and the 2nd appointment shot. You get message by SMS whether there’s any reschedule of your 2nd boost. Usually, it takes 2-3 months after first jab. In my personal experience, I got fever 2-3 days after shot, and also lethargy.
