Ramadhan 1442H in Brunei Darussalam

 Marhaban ya Ramadhan,

I would tell you my experiences having 3 years of Ramadhan in Brunei Darussalam. It’s a previlage to be moslem living in Brunei, The Sultanate or Goverment support religious activities to celebrate holy month. One of the real example is my working hours decrease 1 hour, so we can prepare for iftar meal. Let’s find other special event in Ramadhan Kareem here…

I love to be one moslem who keep my self fit and having fast in  the same time, it’s kind like sport activities. Not only me who exercise in holy month. Many other people doing joy walk in park, rooler skating, hiking, cycling, fishing or yoga at home. It can refresh our mind and bring peace soul. Calm our anger and bring happiness toward endorphine hormone.  Usually I do the sport activity alone, but some of people do it with ther family or friend. Yeah no matter how we shouldn’t waiting someone for good sake for ourself.

Ramadhan festival and food lounge are the best things I have ever found. Yes, definitely it’s a big crowd for local since it held only once a year. Many vendors attract people with various design of Raya Attire like baju kurung and cara melayu for men. Not only that, culinary activities is more challenging. Sorting many kind of mouth watering food for iftar is awesome. You can find local food like pulut panggang, pais, cucur, apam, kuih muih, sotong sumbat, ayam salai, tongkeng, nasi ayam, mie goreng, bihun goreng, and etc. Don’t forge to pick some of baverage too, cz it’s a must to take a sip of sweet when adzan magrib come. I like to drink air kautsar, selasih, or lemon tea (sweet and sour). Other alternative can be like abc, air piasau, air gelagah, bubur kacang, etc. Eits, sorry to forget about international taste food and baverage, you also can find roti john, kebab, burger, takoyaki, loklok, sushi, teokbokki, kimbap, and etc.

Don’t stop our excitement just for fun, let’s jump in to religious activities now. So I will tell you about activities which held in Brunei Mosque during Ramadhan. All of mosques have same activitiy like provide jamaah for 5times pray and taraweh during ramadhan. Some of it have different activities like recite alquran together with society around the mosque after taraweh (like in Madang Complex Mosque), or provide food for iftar (like in Masjid Sengkurong). Maybe another mosque has different activity, but I haven’t known it yet. But for sure all of it already approved by government. So no need to worry, it’s all related to sunnah. InsyaAllah

So That’s all from me, as a expat in Brunei. Wish u all get the good point of view living here.

Oh ya, I also want to remind it’s all free to do outdoor and indoor activities cause there’s no domestic case of COVID-19 here. But you still have to scan the Bru-health by apps for entering room and use mask if having cough or flu symptom.
