My Shoes Story
I have been doing well so far, after migrating to KL from Sabah. After resigning from my job, after all the bunch of paperwork for Spouse Visa, it’s too tiring and so many complicated things in my new phase of life.
This story won’t talk about my personal life specifically, but maybe a woman in general.
So, most of the footwear I use nowadays is flatshoes, crocs, or sport shoes, which I like and are comfortable for long walks. Pampering myself with relaxed toes and limbs. Could it be this idea doesn’t have any relation to you directly? But do you realize, woman is targeted as the biggest object in the fashion industry? With all the modern standards to follow – from head to toe. It is hard to find our true color, which may not seem trendy yet, yet. It’s OK, nobody’s perfect.
Back to my flat shoes, since I had a lot of wedges, high heels and other kinds of higher footwear. I would confess it's part of being proud, making us feel more confident. Boost our ego with artificial personality. Like a peacock when he spread his wings, but me in my long dress and uneventful height. The stigma of short woman is not so attractive as the higher one. Maybe it comes from diversity in genes. When we compare Asian, Europeans, Africans, Latinos – ofcourse each person has their own physical appeal, which could be found you something beautiful. I can’t get enough when you thought everyone must be the same, in height, weight, skin color, etc. Just ordering a robot, you can meet exactly the expectations.
Colonialism and Westernization are part of the changing local culture and biodiversity among humans. It’s very common when people want to make their skin fairer, like the perception of hygiene in white color. The skin itself has its function. If we were born with a darker tone, it means there’s more melatonine which covers up the surface of our body. It protects us from the ultraviolet radiation, it can prevent us from skin cancer. Those who really understand their geographical state might want to be obsessed with ‘whitening’ skin care. God created us with purpose, making some indigenous people in desert areas and tropical countries naturally have darker skin tones.
My personal journey took several years. I find peace in my inner thought as I accept all the great things I already have. More than that, the quality of a person does not depend on their physical, but on their personality and mind. My husband is one of the factors in how I get the sense of belonging and acceptance, no more insecurity and skepticism towards myself. I should love myself first and much more to others!
